Marmots
A special feature of the Galsterbergalm are our marmots, which visibly feel at home on our alp. They were settled on the Alm in 2013. Their dwellings are located in the immediate vicinity of the huts, so that they can be easily observed from the terrace. Through intensive care of the hut hosts, they have become very trusting, so that with a little patience it is possible to feed them. Only almonds are used, which are available at the hut.
Please note that marmots avoid high temperatures and it can be that they retreat into their burrow during lunchtime on hot summer days.
But please be careful: Our marmots are wild animals whose behavior is not predictable. Please approach them carefully, with caution and of course without a dog!
Almkulinarik by Richard Rauch
After a successful project start in June 2019, the Almkulinarik by Richard Rauch will also be available in winter for the first time this year. Since December 2019, winter sports enthusiasts in Schladming-Dachstein have been able to enjoy top-class cuisine at various huts.
Dish of the Galsterbergalm in winter 2019/2020:
Fried goat cheese with a red beet-raspberry salad
With the dish we recommend our Almkulinarik wine:
Sauvignon Blanc DAC “Arte Styria” 2018 from the winery Elsnegg
Spicy, full of finesse, fine nuances of gooseberries
